A Sunny Easter

Hello stampers!  Well, it's Friday of Spring Break and I don't think we've seen the sun for more than a couple of hours all week.  I know that's not unusual, but I do feel sorry for those kiddos whose parents weren't able to take them to Hawaii, the Bahamas, or Disney World to enjoy some sunshine.... and I'm thinking that's a LOT of kids!

I wish I could say that we are guaranteed to have sun for Easter, but that is wishful thinking.  In Oregon, we have to create our own sunshine and that is what I've tried to do with this card.  So today, check out this sunny Easter card... just right for sending to family and friends.  And it won't take a long time to make, either!

The scalloped square card base adds a bit of "something different," as you all know how bored I get with the same old card size.  I love how the large oval adds a nice egg-shaped element to the front of the card... so much more interesting than just stamping the image on a rectangle.
Here's a quick list for you:

Stamps:
Heaven Blessed (in the Occasions mini-catalog)

Ink:
Jet Black Staz-On

Paper:
Whisper White
So Saffron

Accessories:
Scallop Square Die for the Big Shot
Ovals Die for the Big Shot
Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder for the Big Shot
Watercolor Wonder Crayons
Blender Pens
White Taffeta Ribbon
Dimensionals

If you haven't tried coloring with the Watercolor Wonder crayons, you are missing out!  They are so easy to use and the results are amazing.  Just scribble some color onto the image, then blend it out to the edges with a blender pen... so easy and so smooth!

Sale-a-bration is almost over, stampers! I hope you took the opportunity to place an order and receive a free stamp set!  Getting something free is a rarity, and you won't have a chance to get a free set again until next January, once Sale-a-bration is over on March 31st.
Have a great weekend, everyone!  I hope you'll get out of the house and do something fun, despite the rain!  Or better yet, stay in the house and do something fun--- stamping!
Thanks for stopping in today and please check back next week for more stamping inspiration.

Bye-Bye Blushing Bride

Hello Stampers and welcome to Wednesday!

I'm off to Polar Bear Yogurt in Sherwood in a few minutes for a fun stamping class... wish you could join me!

As you might already know, Stampin'Up! is going to retire the In-Colors that we've had for two years.
The colors that are going away are :  Blushing Bride, Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade, and Peach Parfait.  I'm encouraging all of my customers to order the ink pads, ink refills, and card stock now, so that you can stamp with all of these colors for years to come.  The deadline to purchase is May 31st, as the new catalog goes "live" at noon on June 1st.

For the next couple of months you'll be seeing a lot of these colors as I encourage you to get them before they are gone forever. We'll get to the card in a minute, but first I want to share a stamping opportunity with you.    You can make today's card this coming Saturday at my Last Chance to Sale-a-brate Party.  I've sent all of my local customers an evite, so if you'd like to come, please let me know.  I've got all the usual seats filled, but I can squeeze in a couple of extra people. We'll be playing Bingo for all the hostess benefits generated, plus I'm throwing in extra goodies, so your chances of a nice prize are very good!  There will also be a special offer for everyone who attends!
OK.... here's the card...

Let me quickly list the supplies I used.

Stamps:
Aviary
Happiest Birthday Wishes ( available only to hostesses)

Ink:
Soft Suede
Marina Mist

Paper:
Blushing Bride card stock
Soft Suede card stock
Very Vanilla card stock
Mocha Morning Designer Paper

Accessories:
Stripes embossing folder for the Big Shot
Scallop Edge Border Punch
Poly-Stitched Ribbon in Blushing Bride
Basic Rhinestones
Dimensionals

I'm "off to the races" so to speak... got lots to do today!  If you'd like to order again before Sale-a-bration is over, just send me an email at sjrstamps@gmail.com or give me a call at 503-925-1929.  Of course you can always order online 24/7 at www.susanrodgers.stampinup.net.

In Need of Sunshine?

Hello Stampers and welcome back to The Classic Card!

In case you might have forgotten, my purpose here at The Classic Card is to inspire you to create some clean and simple cards that are quick and fun to create without taking a lot of your time or a ton of embellishments.  If you are like most of us, you lead a very busy--- even hectic--- life and although you love being creative, you don't have a lot of time to spend dreaming up cards.  That's where I come in.  Although I cannot blog every day, I try to be as consistent as possible, given my crazy and hectic life.  I hope I never lose sight of you, my customers, in this blogging adventure.  I'm blogging to share with you!

Well, I think it is time that we move forward to the card for today.  As a sun-deprived transplant to the Pacific Northwest, I'm always looking for ways to add sunny color and energy to my life.  I've found many ways to do this-- through the clothes I wear, the colors I've chosen for my home, and of course the colors I choose for cards.  If you think for a minute, you'll realize that there's a lot of yellows, golds, and reds in my home.  I'm trying to warm it up and make it feel like a sunny day inside, even though it might be cold, wet, and gray outside.  Today's card is a similar effort... trying to bring some sunny color to you, my stamping friends.

Here it is...

How's this for adding a little sunshine to someone's day?  And it only took a few minutes to put together, thanks to all of the great punches that Stampin'Up! offers.   Here's a quick list of products for you:

Stamps:
Mixed Bunch
Pursuit of Happiness (for the sentiment)

Ink:
Basic Black

Paper:
Basic Black
Whisper White
Daffodil Delight

Accessories:
Petals-a-plenty embossing folder for the Big Shot
Blossom Punch
Scallop Oval Punch
Large Oval Punch
3/4 inch Circle Punch
Black Scallop Dots Ribbon

We'll be making this sunny card on Friday night at Debbie's party.
If you'd like to attend, please email me for an invitation.

I'm sorry to say that if you want some sunshine in your life today, you are going to have to create it yourself.  The good news is that it is easy to do.  Turn on the lights, get out your "stampin' stuff," find some sunny Daffodil Delight card stock, and make a few bright and cheerful cards.  Then send them out...  that's the best way to spread some sunshine around!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you'll come back tomorrow for another classic card!
Sunny stamping!

Pretty Poppy and Pear

Hello Stampers!  Happy Monday!

So sorry I've been MIA for the past week!  As it turned out, the Seattle daughter and family did not come for a visit as two of the children were sick, but I was so busy getting all of my ducks in a row for upcoming stamping events that I just needed to be cutting paper, snipping ribbon, and counting out brads, etc.  Now that I'm prepared for the last of my Sale-a-bration parties, I can get back to blogging.

Today's post will be a quick one, as I'm meeting up with my SOS (Stamp Out Stress) group at 1pm today at Symposium Coffee in Old Town Sherwood.  We'll be meeting the last Monday of the month at 1 pm for some coffee-drinking, chatting, and stamping.  If you'd like to join the group, please email me at sjrstamps@gmail.com.

OK... onward to the card of the day.  Here it is!

This is a card that opens into a diorama box.  Let me show you the side view

This fun card is really easy to make, so if you'd like the instructions, please let me know and I'll be happy to email them to you.
Here's a quick list of what I used:

First of all, this card features two of my favorite In-Colors--- Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz, which will be retiring at the end of May.  I'm so sad to see these colors go!  Please get your pads, refills, ribbon and card stock before they are gone forever!

Stamps:
Field Flowers
Teeny Tiny Wishes (sentiment on the front)
Blessings from Heaven (sentiment on the inside)

Ink:
Poppy Parade
Pear Pizzazz
Early Espresso (for sentiments)

Paper:
Poppy Parade
Pear Pizzazz
Very Vanilla
Crumb Cake (12 x 12) for the card base

Accessories:
Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder for the Big Shot
Poly-stitched ribbon in Pear Pizzazz
Modern Label Punch
Label Framelits for the Big Shot (to cut the hole inside the card)
Dimensionals

Hope you're planning on attending my upcoming "Last Chance to Sale-a-brate" Party this coming Saturday, March 31st!  Please let me know if you'd like to join me.
Have a great week!

A Mini-Menagerie for Monday

Hello stampers and welcome back to my blog!

Well, here we are... only two days away from the official start of spring and it is snowing???  When I first got up and peered out the window there was a light dusting on the roof tops and a very slight amount on the ground.  Since then, it has warmed up and there is now nothing to see, although the snowflakes are still falling.  As always, spring in Oregon is not like spring in other places and I need to remind myself of that and reduce my expectations.

As promised on Friday, I have another fun birthday card for you today.  This is the second card we'll be making at Polar Bear Yogurt on Wednesday, March 28th at 11:30 am.  The cost is only $5, and when you consider that $3 of that will go towards your small yogurt, you can see that the cards with envelopes are practically free!  If you and your family are having a "stay-cation" this year during Spring Break, join me for some creative fun.  This event is for ages 8-88, so bring the kids and grandma too!

Here's the card...

Yes, it's another quick and easy card, just perfect for any level of stamper.  Let me give you the list of products:

Stamps:
118565 Fox and Friends
120510 Curly Cute (for the sentiment)

Ink:
122935 Lucky Limeaid
105216 Pumpkin Pie
111837 Pacific Point
115657 Soft Suede
119670 Early Espresso (for the sentiment)

Paper:
122926 Lucky Limeaid
105117 Pumpkin Pie
124285 Pacific Point
115318 Soft Suede
119676 Early Espresso
100730 Whisper White
122384 2011-2013 In-Colors paper stack

Accessories:
119865 1 1/4 inch square punch
119877 1 3/8 inch square punch
104430 Dimensionals

If you don't already own the Fox and Friends stamp set, you should definitely put it on your list.  It makes great birthday cards for children and it also makes adorable baby cards, especially when done in pastel shades.

Well, friends... as usual I've got a lot to accomplish today, so I must go and get busy!
My posting is going to be erratic this week, as my Seattle daughter and her family will be here.  The following week is the last week of Sale-a-bration and I have many events on my calendar that may keep me from posting as much as I'd like.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  I'd love to chat with you every day, but if I want to keep my sanity and my health I just can't do that.   Have a great week!

...With a Cherry On Top!

Happy Friday, Stampers!

Yay... the weekend is almost here!  I'll be stamping the weekend away and hope you'll find some time to stamp too!  Sale-a-bration is still with us and I'm definitely Sale-a-brating!  If you haven't received some free product from Stampin'Up! yet, I can help you with that.  Just give me a call or send me an email (contact info is shown on my blog "header") and I'll help you figure out what to order so that you, too, can receive a free item with your $50 order.

The card I have to show you today is one that you could easily make in quantity and have ready for upcoming birthdays.  This one is suitable for everyone--men, women, and children.  How often can you say that about a card?  And it is simple, too, which means it goes together quickly.  Check it out...

OK, I have to admit that if I was planning on making this for a guy, I'd leave off the organdy bow and probably substitute some Lucky Limeaid baker's twine (125572).  Also, I might just give the cherries a coating of Crystal Effects (101055) to make them shine instead of the red glitter paper.  But other than that, this design and colors would work for everyone.  And I love the greeting "Happy Birthday with a cherry on top!"
Notice that this card doesn't use the Big Shot, although it could.  I think the Lucky Limeaid panel would look nice embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, but I was deliberately trying to keep this card quick and simple.

Here's a list of what I used:

Stamps:
122737   Button Buddies
120528   A Word for You

Ink:
123002   In-color Marker Assortment (I used the Lucky Limeaid to color directly on the stems)
100052   Real Red Marker (to color the cherries)
101179   Basic Black Stamp Pad

Paper:
100730  Whisper White card stock
122926   Lucky Limeaid card stock
102482   Real Red card stock
117155   Designer Paper Stack, Brights (for the Real Red polka dotted paper)

Accessories:
Lucky Limeaid 1/8" Organdy ribbon (this is part of an accessory package, including two rolls of ribbon ---one Lucky Limeaid, the other Calypso Coral--- plus 30 printed brads that is a FREE Sale-a-bration item)
124005   Red Glimmer Paper
119873   3/4 inch Circle Punch
104430   Dimensionals

I'll be at Polar Bear Yogurt in Sherwood on Wednesday, March 28th at 11:30 with this cute card!  You can join me for only $5.00 and that includes a small yogurt ($3.00), so the two cards with envelopes are only $2.00... that's practically a give-away! Send me a quick email if you'd like to attend.  I'll show you the second card when I return on Monday.  Meanwhile, have a wonderful weekend!  Don't forget to give yourself a little break from the weekend routine and stamp something pretty!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Oh, So Versatile!

Hello Stampers!  Welcome to my blog!

I've been busy creating and I've got some new cards to share with you over the next few days.  Just like you, I try to make my stamping dollar stretch, so I try to pick stamp sets that have images that can be used in a variety of ways.  Today's card features one such set... Patterned Party.  I know I used this a few posts back, but I'm using it again today.  Most of the images are birthday related, but some can be used for occasions other than birthdays, such as the balloons on this card, which could be used for a congratulations card, a retirement card, a baby shower card, a get well card, etc.  The gift packages stamp could be used for any gift-giving occasion... Mother's Day, Father's Day, weddings, etc.  So while it's billed as a birthday set, you can certainly get a lot more use out of it than using it just for birthdays!

Today's card features a color combination that I wouldn't ordinarily use... it's just not my style, but I took them directly from the designer paper.  Check it out...

While this card is a birthday card,  with a change of sentiment it could just as easily be a congratulations card, a get well card, or a welcome baby card.  These baloons would also be great on a graduation card, when stamped in the graduate's school colors.  If your card needs to go in the mail, you can always substitute paper buttons for the ones I used here by using the Buttons #5 Sizzlit Die, which is shown on page 224 of the big catalog.  This little die is only $4.95, but gives you four buttons in varying shapes and sizes that make a perfect addition to a card that must be mailed.  I use my Buttons sizzlit constantly to add a cute accent.

Here's a quick list of ingredients:

Stamps:
 Patterned Party 123067
 Petite Pairs 122497 (sentiment)

Ink:
 Real Red 103133

Paper:
Real Red 102482
Whisper White 100730
Tempting Turquoise 102067
Big Top Birthday Designer Paper 122348

Accessories:
Tempting Turquoise  1/4 " Grosgrain 124323
Designer Buttons, Brights 119747
Dimensionals 104430

Well, stampers, that's about it for today. Just a reminder that Thursday I'll be too busy to post... it's my day to babysit.  But I'll try to get back here on Friday with another classic card for you.  Meanwhile, keep warm!  It's a cold gray world out there!
Happy stamping!

Spring? Really?

Hello stamping friends!

It is said that "seeing is believing," but I had a hard time with what I was seeing about an hour ago... snow!  It was coming down hard here in Sherwood, with big fat flakes that were as large as any I've ever seen here in Oregon.  Of course it didn't stick, but still... snow??  I thought we were well past that kind of thing.  After all, Spring officially starts on March 20th.  That's the thing about weather in Oregon... it is always unpredictable and always offers a safe topic of conversation.

I've got a pretty card for you today that was made by one of my amazing downline members, Kathy Milano.  Kathy's cards are always well-designed and well executed and this one is no exception.  You could vary the sentiment on this card and use it for tons of occasions.  Take a look...

Here's what Kathy used to create this beauty:

Stamps:
Mixed Bunch 125537
Blessings from Heaven 123052

Ink:
Elegant Eggplant Marker 105110
Melon Mambo Marker 121074
Melon Mambo Classic Pad 115656

Paper:
Elegant Eggplant card stock 105126
Daffodil Delight card stock 119683
Whisper White card stock 100730
Old Olive card stock 100702

Accessories:
Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder 117335
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine 113439
1 3/4 inch Scallop Circle Punch 119854 (for leaves)
Blossom Punch 125603 (for large flower)
Boho Blossom Punch 119858 (for flower center)
Scallop Edge Border Punch 119882
White Baker's Twine 124262
Bitty Buttons 118761
Glue Dots 103683
Dimensionals 104430

Thanks for stopping by today!  I'll be back tomorrow with another classic card for you.  Meanwhile, let's all concentrate on thinking of sunny days, blossoming trees, and blue skies.  Perhaps if we all tune our minds to the same channel, we can bring Spring in a little faster!
Happy stamping!

Punched out and Pretty

Hello Stampers and welcome to a very windy Monday!  Wow... is it ever windy here!  I thought my clump of birches in the front yard were about to end up in the green space, the way the wind was blowing a couple of minutes ago.  It looks like a GREAT day to stay indoors and do a little stamping.  You know me... always looking for an excuse to stamp!

Today I've got a different but easy idea to show you.  And right up front, I want to say that this is not my original idea!  I saw it on Dawn Olchefske's blog, but I've also seen it on other blogs as well, so there's no telling who came up with the idea first.  Of course I've changed it around a bit, changed the paper, the colors, etc.

Check it out and please let me know what you think.  Also I'd like to hear from you if you read my blog.  I only have 7 official followers, although I know I have more readers that than.  If you are a reader, please send me an email to let me know, and to encourage me to keep blogging.  You can email me at sjrstamps@gmail.com.  I would appreciate it very much.  I would hate to take this blog down, but I get very little feedback, almost zero comments, and--- as you might guess--- blogging takes a lot of time!  So please help me keep going by leaving a comment or emailing me.  Thanks!
OK, here's the card...

What's different about this card is that the Blossom Punch was used to create "negative space," so that the Designer Paper underneath shows through and becomes the focal point.  Let me give you a quick list of the products used.  And if you'd like to place an order to get some of those products, that would be a definite "vote" for continuing this blog!

Stamps:  Curly Cute ( for the sentiment) 120510 (numbers I give for stamp sets are for the clear-mount stamps)

Ink:  Calypso Coral 122939
         Lucky Limeaid 122935

Paper:  Lucky Limeaid 122926
            Whisper White 100730
             Calypso Coral 122925
            Berry Blossoms Designer Paper 122350
Accessories:
            Blossom Punch 125603
            Boho Blossom Punch 119858
            1 inch Circle Punch
            Printed Brads 122940
            Mini Brads 122941

I just love the look of this card and I'm planning on designing some of my own, using this idea.  It would work with all sorts of punches and papers.  I'm sure you can think of some punches and paper that you own that you could use to create a fun card like this.  Well, we almost lost power there, folks, so I think I'll bring this to a quick close and turn off my computer!

Happy Monday!  Don't forget to come back tomorrow for another classic card.

There's still time!

Hello stampers and welcome to Friday!  I'm excited that the weekend is here!  I'll be busy with stamping but that's a happy thing.

If you haven't attended a stamping party lately, there's still time before Sale-a-bration is over on March 31st.  During Sale-a-bration, Stampin'Up! is giving away free product to those who purchase $50 or more.  In fact, you get a free item for each $50 you spend... so you can get lots of free product.  This is definitely the time of year to stock up on consumables, such as card stock, ink refills, accessories, glue sticks, dimensionals, etc.  You know you're going to need them, so it makes sense to stock up while you can score a free stamp set from Stampin'Up!  If you'd like to attend a Sale-a-bration party send me a quick email at sjrstamps@gmail.com and I'll email you a list of upcoming events.

Today's card is the work of my talented stamping friend Shannon Carrier.  This was a swap I received at last month's Stamp2gether.  Gatherings such as our Stamp2gethers are one of the biggest perks of being a demonstrator.  It is so much fun to get together with other demos to chat, stamp, swap, and share ideas.  When you join Stampin'Up! during Sale-a-bration, the cost is only $125, yet you receive over $345 worth of product... everything you need to start your business.  If you've ever considered taking a "test drive," this would be the time! I will be here to give you the help you need to get your business off the ground.  If you decide that being a demonstrator is not for you, that's OK too.  You still get to keep the kit and no one from Stampin'Up! will call you!

OK, let's get to Shannon's pretty card.  Take a peek!

This card features all sorts of FREE Sale-a-bration products, so let me give you a quick list.

Stamps:  Sprinkled Expressions 125132 (SAB item, free with a $50 purchase)
Ink:  Calypso Coral 122939
Paper:  Pool Party card stock 122924
            Calypso Coral card stock 122925
            Whisper White card stock100730
             Basic Black card stock 121045
Everday Enchantment Designer Paper 126154 (SAB item, free with $50 purchase)
Accessories:  Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack 127279 (SAB item, free with $50 purchase

I love the way Shannon put this card together, with the triangle of designer paper in the lower left repeating the triangular shape the ribbon creates in the upper right.

Well, stamping friends, that's my post for today!  Hope you'll enjoy what's left of the sunshine today, before the next storm blows in!  May you find a few minutes of time in your busy weekend to stamp something pretty!  Oh, and don't forget to Spring Forward on Saturday night!  Please meet me back here on Monday for another classic card!

Sunny Stamping

Hello stampers and welcome to a sunny Wednesday!

I'm so thrilled to see the sunshine out there... it gives me hope that spring is on its way, although we have to wait until the 20th for the official start of spring.

Today's post is going to be very quick... lots to do!  But before I run off to tackle my "to-do" list, I've got a fun card for you.  I've featured this card at my last couple of parties and everyone has really enjoyed making it.  Have a look...

This cute card is a diorama card and it features the new stamp set Heaven Blessed that is on page 20 of the new Occasions Mini-catalog.  The diorama look is easy to create!  Start with two pieces of cardstock cut at the standard 5 1/2 by 4 1/4.  Lay each one on the Simply Scored board  horizontally  and score at 1/2 inch and 1 inch from either side.  Fold the score lines so that the top piece pops forward and the back piece pops back.  When punching the large hole, push the punch in as far as it will reach and make sure it is centered before punching.  To color the chicks and bunnies, just color directly on the image with the crayon... really, you can just scribble a little color... then blend the color out to the edges of the image with the blender pen.  It is soooo easy to color this way!  Once you see how easy the Watercolor Wonder crayons are to use and the great results you get, you'll never color any other way.  They really are a wonder!

If you'd like to make this card at your own party, email me at sjrstmps@gmail.com and we'll get a date on my calendar quickly!

Here's a quick run-down of the supplies:

Super Gift Idea

Howdy stampers!  It looks like this week is going to fly by, just like the last few have done!  It is hard to believe that we're going back to Daylight Savings Time this coming Sunday!  It seems like it was not that long ago when we were in "fall back" mode and here we are doing the "spring forward" thing already.  Well, I guess we're all ready for spring about now.  As we all know by now, spring in Oregon has nothing to do with warm sunny days and flowers.  My sister, who lives about an hour north of San Francisco reports that the flowering trees in her area have all blossomed and there are tiny green leaves coming out on the trees.  Sigh!  Meanwhile, we're still wearing our flannel jammies and sleeping in flannel sheets.

Well, enough of that!  Let's get to the purpose of this post, which wasn't to moan about spring in Oregon.  Today I have a cute little box for you that holds 3 x 3 gift cards. I saw this idea on Robin Merriman's blog and tweaked it a bit.  She used a box pattern that you'd have to trace and cut out, but I just used the Box #2 Die for the Big Shot and cut off the top flap.  That makes the process much easier!   Take a peek!

When you're giving someone a wrapped gift, you don't need a large card to go with it.  A small gift card indicating who the gift is from is all you really need.  I can remember going to the Hallmark store and buying this type of gift card.... I suppose they still sell them.  I used to pay $1.25 or $1.50 for these little cards, but now I can make tons of them myself in just a few minutes!

Let me give you a list of what I used to make this little box and the cards to go in it.

For the cards:
Whisper White card stock 100730
Fresh Vintage stamp set (FREE Sale-a-bration item, 125117
Sincere Salutations stamp set 115068
Pool Party stamp pad 122938
Lucky Limeaid stamp pad 122935
Basic Black stamp pad 101179
Mini Sqaure envelopes 107309

For the box:
River Rock card stock 108640
Everday Enchantment Designer Paper ( FREE Sale-a-bration item, 126154
Lucky Limeaid Ruffled Ribbon 122977
Designer Printed Brads 122940
Sticky Strip adhesive 104294
Box #2 Die for the Big Shot 114518
Large Oval punch (to punch the handle) 119855

To create the box, just use the Box #2 Die, but cut off the flap that folds over the top of the box.
Cut the designer paper into a strip 1 5/8 " wide and glue it to the box while it is flat.  It is very difficult to glue paper to an already-assembled box!  Assemble the box using the Sticky Strip, which is a very strong adhesive. Then you'll cut a piece of matching card stock 3 5/8" wide by 5 " tall.  Cover it with the designer paper and then glue it inside the back of the box (after the box is assembled).  Punch out the handle hole using the oval punch and then add the ribbon and brad.
When using the box dies, it is best to use a Crease Pad, which you can see on page 215 of the big catalog.  These give enough pressure to cut the box, without cutting through on the score lines.  If you use a standard clear cutting pad, the score lines often end up being cut almost all the way through, which makes the box unusable.  For the larger dies like the Box #2, you'll need the Extended Premium Crease Pad 117630.

Good news... we can make this box and matching cards at YOUR stamping party!  I'm booking now for April and May... the last 2 months of this Stampin'Up! year.  Email me and reserve a spot on my calendar and we can make this cute box and cards that I'm sure your friends will love.
June starts the new year, with the release of the new catalog on June 1st, so there are only 2 months left to get the items you want from the 2011-2012 catalog.

It looks like we may be having a sunny day today, so hopefully you can get out there and enjoy it!
I'll be back tomorrow with more stamping inspiration, so please come back and visit.

Happy Tuesday!

Pretty and Pink!

Hello stamping friends!  Welcome back to The Classic Card!  I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing weekend and that you enjoyed the sunshine!  Wasn't it nice to see blue sky yesterday?   But now as I look out my stamp room window, I see gray skies and rain, and a fierce wind is whipping the birch trees in my front yard around like crazy!  It looks like a good day to stay home and stamp!

Today's post is going to be on the short side, as it seems I have a lot of things to accomplish this week, but I do have a very pretty card for you.  This beautiful Easter card is the work of my talented downline member Janet Jones.  Check it out...

I love how she combined the Crumb Cake card stock with the different shades of pink on this card!  I don't think I've ever used this combo before, but it sure is pretty!  Let me do a quick list of what she used to make this card:

Stamps:        Apothecary Art 125527
                      Teeny Tiny Wishes115370
Ink:               Jet Black Staz-On 101406

Paper:          Crumb Cake card stock 120953
                      Melon Mambo card stock 115320
                      Regal Rose card stock 105130
                      Pink Pirouette card stock 111351
                      Whisper White card stock 100730
                      Designer Paper Stack, Subtles 117152

Accessories:  Label Framelits for the Big Shot 125598
                       Neutral Brads 119736

If you have the items to make this card, why not try it out right now (or when you get home from work)?  If you need a couple of things to re-create this card, why not place an order right now, so you can make some beautiful Easter cards?   The great thing about the Apothecary Art set, is that you can place any sentiment you want on that center panel.  That makes this set a "must have," as it is so versatile!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Don't forget to come back tomorrow for more stamping inspiration!
Happy Stamping!

Sweet Easter Bunny

Hello Stampers!

Yay--- it's Friday!  Even though I'm retired, I still think there's something special about Fridays.  I always get a burst of energy when Friday arrives, even if I don't have anything exciting planned for the weekend.  Of course, now that we're in the middle of Sale-a-bration, I do have exciting things on my calendar... stamping parties!  I'm always excited to share my love of stamping with anyone and everyone.

Today I've got a cute Easter card for you, made by one of the talented stampers in our Stamp2gether group, Shannon Carrier.  Shannon is an engineer who works at Mentor Graphics, but as you'll see from this card, she's a woman of many talents.  Not only is she good with computers, she also knows her way around stamps, ink, and paper!  Check out her card...

Here's a quick list of what you'll need to create this darling card, which would be perfect to send to anyone at Easter:

Stamps:
Everybunny, 122707 (clear mount)
Ink:  Jet Black Staz-On, 101406
        Pink Pirouette stamp pad, 111838
        Pool Party stamp pad, 122938
        Basic Gray stamp pad, 109120
Paper:
Wisteria Wonder DSP from the 2011-2013  In-color Paper Stack 122384
        Pool Party card stock, 122924
        Pink Pirouette card stock, 111351
        Watercolor Paper, 122959
Accessories:
Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, 117335
        Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, 109070
        Dimensionals, 104430
        Blender pens, 102845
        Aqua Painter, 103954

To color using ink pads, take a closed pad and press the lid down against the pad, then open the lid.  You'll see a little spot of color on the inside of the lid.  You can use a blender pen or aqua painter to pick up the color, then just color the image.  Staz-On ink is a solvent-based ink, so it won't run when the moist color hits it.  For the wash of blue, you'll need an aqua-painter to get that smooth swath of color.

Thanks to Shannon for allowing me to show her card today!  Hope you'll all enjoy a relaxing weekend.  I understand that school children all over the country are celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday today.  Maybe I'll go fix some green eggs and ham in his honor.  Don't forget to come back and visit me on Monday.  I'll have another classic card for you!
Happy stamping!
Susan
